Farmhouse finds. Armoire love!

Farmhouse finds. Armoire love!

Years ago we bought an old farmhouse and in it came these 2 armoire's This first one was green. It was hideous so I stripped it. Bought that orange sticky stuff that you put on with a paint brush. let it sit and then scrape it off. Took GALLONS of that stuff. And days to get it all done.  But I was so happy with the first one that I decided to tackle the second one. They both turned out to be such pretty pieces and a great addition to the decor I have.
Here you can see the green paint and the yellow that covered the green. At first I had left this paint on there because it was a pain to try and get it off of the curve. Now I think it looks like all the other great pieces that get stripped of old paint but still have some small glimpses of the past.
This isn't the original hardware. That too was ugly and needed to go. These were black and so I dropped them in muric acid to age them.
As you can see, I can fit a bunch of stuff in here. Now that the kids are grown and gone we can leave the liquor out in a great looking cabinet.
This tray contains all those miscellaneous bar type items that need corralling.
This is the second armoire. It was yellow with just a bar inside to hang clothing. I removed the bar and added shelves.
It's great for hiding the tv and extra blankets.
Someone wrote some numbers and a few other things on the inside door. I thought at first it was someones height chart but that doesnt seem to be the case.
2 really great pieces. I'm glad I spent the time on them.
